~~HI, my 2005 Merc 8hp 4 stroke co-pilot is not working.
what I am getting at is the red handle that 'locks' the motor in one steering position remains tight at all times.
I've disassembled everything but the co-pilot pin.
It appears like this pin should rotate when the red handle is moved.
in my case the pin, it appears, has been turned into the casing so tight it does not move.
I looks like righty tighty bolt but I'm a bit worried if I exert any more force to loosen it up it it's going to break.
so here are my questions
1-is the co-pilot pin supposed to turn freely when the red hande is moved?
2-is the co-pilot pin right or left hand tread?
3-Is my whole theory on the co-pilot correct
I'll try to attach some pictures. If I'm not able to shoot me an note with your email and Ill reply with pics.
Also, the serial number is OR050338
a parts diagram can be found at the following link
https://webapps.brunswick.com/litera...atureSearch.do
put in serial number
click on
892644A05 - 8/9.9 (209cc) 4-Stroke
click on the drop down menu (says accessories) and look for
swivel bracket non power tilt
then look for part #17
thanks in advance for your help.
