I recently purchased a 2005 Johnson 90HP with about 50 hours on it according to the dealer. Problem is that it would not start on arrival. Brought back to dealer and he says it is small gear between the starter pinion gear and the flywheel gear. He says this is broken. Anyone know anything about this? I have a 17 year old Evinrude 90HP and starter pinion goes right to flywheel gear. Why would this fail with just 50 hours of operation?
