2005 Honda 50hp lower unit fluid disappearing ? no water

Our 05 50hp lower unit fluid seems to disappear over the season? we fill the lower end at the start of the season all the way to the top and at the end of the season there is no water in the fluid but there seems to only be about half as much lube in the lower unit?.. any idea where it might be going?

Let the unit sit for a couple of hours after servicing and re-check level. Trapped air will escape to the top and you can re-fill. I sometimes recheck the level after a couple of hours run time too. Follow service procedure recommendations and fill from the bottom plug until it runs out the upper "check level" plug also. If oil was leaking out, water would likely leak in. I bet it's just an issue of trapped air.
