Back story
Motor sat in the Texas heat untouched and at full tilt for 3 yrs. I drained all the fuel from the VST and pushed new fuel though both LP FP's until I had fresh Ethanol free fuel flowing from the VST drain. Tried to start found the HP FP was not working. Checked power blah blah blah and it needs a pump. When pulling the VST every hose attached to the VST had fuel in it. HP FP was corroded and dead tank was surprisingly clean.
Just replaced the HP FP and filter, checked the float valve slapped it al back together and the first squeeze of the primer some fuel spit at me from the EVAP control valve area. I squeezed again and didnt happen again. I could hear the VST filling and then the bulb got stiff. I started the motor. It seamed to serge a bit then evened out. I though great going fishing tomorrow. Then saw fuel running down the exhaust housing pulsing from the vapor canister vent and I had gone though a half gallon of fuel in 20 second.
I'm sure its the float. I'm not lucky enough not to need to pull the damn thing apart again.
What should I be looking for when inspecting the float?
If there is fuel coming from the canister do i need to replace the canister once i find the issue? Do I even need this? Seems like a $100 part I could do without if the VST was to vent to open air like the fuel tank in the boat.
