I think I know the answer but wanted to throw this out there. on my maiden voyage we had an issue with the boat starting, now I think my dad flooded it by pushing the key in three or four times and holding it for a few seconds each time. it sounded like it wanted to start but it wouldn't turn over. after we let it set for about 10 mins it took maybe two or three turns of the key for her to start. it ran fine WOT, it ran good at idle, no rough spots at all. so am I right in thinking it was just flooded? also with this motor would would be the proper action when starting it? push the choke (key) in and hold maybe 2-4 secs, turn key see if she starts? this is only after priming the ball that is. thanks.

Push the key in when cranking and let up on it when it fires. If it starts and wants to die you may have to feather the key to keep it running until it evens out.
