Welcome to the forums,

If carb & fuel pump are inmaculate clean, have not played with mixture screw, seems idle rpm is bit low, place a induction tach and check once on water with warmed up engine, idle speed should be around 850 rpm, if not counting with a tach, adjust idle rpm screw CC untill engines does not die when placed at gear.

Happy Boating

Sounds like you are running lean, or have a similar problem.

Year is unimportant; Model is critical. I'm assuming you have a Tohatsu MFS30A, right? That would have 3 carbs.

If so, clean all 3 carbs properly, in real carb dip, as per standard shop procedure. In the future, always run the carbs dry at the end of each and every day, to reduce varnish buildup in the carbs.

If you have a fuel-injected MFS30B, get to a dealer, and have him diagnose the motor, with the aid of the onboard diagnostics.

Carb dip is sold in 1- and 5-gallon cans. Available at most good auto parts houses, and sometimes even at wal-mart. The 1-gallon cans (from Berryman's or Gunk, etc.), usually come with a basket to hold the parts during submersion. CRC Tyme also works very well, but... comes in a rectangular 1-gallon can, so you would need your own basket and/or can for the bath.

Procedure is to do a thorough, complete disassembly, including jets and emulsion tube nozzles, then,
A 4-hour bath to softem the organic varnishing, then,
A complete spray-out with generic carb spray, then,
Careful reassembly, paying special attention to float height.
