I just replaced my Evinrude with a Yamaha.. I had the neutral switch bypassed on the Evinrude. But dont know what wires to use to bypass on the Yamaha. Can anyone help out here ? The wire harness was butchered and cut up so its not a plug and play harness anymore. I wired in a new key switch but now it wont start with the key. it will run if I jump the starter. The motor is a 2004 200hp HPDI

why would you bypass safety switches?
fix it correctly, you controls should have a neutral switch.
service manuals help a lot when working on motors you own,
but not if the boat has controls that are not of the same make

you could do a search for Yamaha wire color codes if you refuse to own a service manual for the motor you have and see if you can figure it out

Well as stated the controls don’t have a switch in them. They are Morse controls and never had a switch in them. Seeing how you just want to act all mighty and not answer the questions and tell me to fix it correctly and buy a manual. No worries I already figured it out. And a manual for the motor isn’t what I needed. I needed a wire diagram and color codes for the switch. Which isn’t on the damn motor. It’s a shame when someone asks for help and they get grief instead as usual most sites are full of a holes. Dont worry I won’t be back on this site.

so you wanted a diagram for a switch that is not on a motor or the controls
so why come here to ask about it.
rig the boat properly with the correct controls

You mean the in gear interlock that won’t allow a start if it’s in gear ?

When you say "I had the neutral switch bypassed on the Evinrude" I am presuming that you mean the control box neutral safety switch was bypassed. Not a particularly smart idea but so be it. To each his own.

There is no wire to bypass in a Yamaha motor. If battery power is provided to the motor (starter relay, main relay and ECU) by the key switch then the motor is going to crank, start and run. Battery power is provided to the motor via a yellow wire when the key is on. Battery power is provided to the starter motor relay via a brown wire when the key is is turned to the start position.
