so the engine ran okay last year - and this year it won't run at all - so after some time trouble shooting it turned out that the ffp was frozen. So i got a new one and now when i turn the key to the on position it doesn't pump for a couple seconds like the manual reads it should. Further - the engine won't start.
i want to test if the wires to the pump get power - but when you unplug it the three lights on the gauge go on - so i'm not sure if the computer knows there is no pump and doesn't send it power or if .... i don't know?
any ideas - is there a fuse or something i'm missing?
with the pump not working the mechanical pump is able to get 50psi of pressure - but i'm under the impression i need around 90psi for this to start.
the outboard has about 300 hours on it.
are tohatsu's just junk? and i've wasted my cash on this one?
or is this worth the cash to fix?

MD90A or MD90B?
The mechanical pump should never get anywhere near that pressure.
Your FFP seems not to be running. You need to diagnose that. It won't start without the FFP running.
What does your Factory service manual suggest?
The middle 25A fuse is for the FFP on the B model.

its a 90B - the old pump was dead. i just got a new pump and when you put 12 volts to it - it spins and you can hear it. When i turn the key to the on - you don't hear anything.
do ecu's go bad? - its just a power wire from the fuse block and a yellow wire from the ecu.
are there other things required to be working or on before you get the 2 second burst?
the service manual doesn't really say anything about the pump not pumping other than - if you don't get the two second burst when the key is turned to the on position - check the ffp.
I did - and bought a new ffp - and now it still doesn't.
what is my next move?

i know this is going to be hard to believe.
but i must have screwed up the schrader valve with the fuel pressure tester with the last ffp - i was going to check if i got fuel pressure with this new ffp and i noticed the valve was not right. pulled it out and put in a new one and it started right up!
i still don't get the 2 seconds of pump running with the key on the "on" position though.
so that causes some concern.
but i'll call this fixed!
thanks for your help.
