I am rebuilding the powerhead on my 04 Suzuki DF90. I have the service manual that states the driven gear and the crank gear are to be lined up dot to dot. Simple enough as this is usually the case. However, before I tore it apart I checked the gears and could never get the dots to line up, even after many revolutions of the crank. I ran the engine myself before the tear down and it ran great. So.....Do I reinstall the way I found it or go dot to dot? I never could get the dots even close to each other! Engine has on 240 hrs and I am fairly sure I am the first one to break it apart. Side note, only tearing down because of oiling issue that is not related. Thanks
