2004 Mercruiser 3.0 will not restart

Hi there , i have a 1989 searay 200cc with a 2004 3.0 litre mercruiser sterndrive . Whilst out using it we were cruising at about 25 knots , i then pulled the throttle back into neutral fairly quickly. The boat then died and would not restart. There was as if there was no power , although the battery was showing 12-14v, and there was enough power to raise the leg. If you turn the key then there is just nothing there , the starter motor does not engauge. it is just completely dead.
The boat had been run for a long period in the morning , then had a couple of hours to cool down before , we finally started to move off again when this occurred.
Had to get a tow back in and the problem is still not fixed , any suggestions would be much appreciated

Have looked at the master breaker on the engine?

would this be the main circuit breaker, small red button ?
This problem has occurred before, last time the engine would start but then if if you apply revs at about 2500 , the engin would cut out
