Hi all, I have a Honda 5hp and after being out about an hour it would shut down. I later realized i need to keep pumping the bulb to keep it running. What tests do I need to do to? how would i test the fuel line, or could it be the carb or fuel pump?

Based on the previous owner, He had a yamaha tank and it worked fine. The tank was stolen and he replaced it with an Attwood 6g tank. I've read some reviews and people are saying the old fuel line will not work with these new tanks. Is that accurate?

The attwood tank comes with a 1/4" NPT female thread. Then you add the appropriate fitting to match your primer hose. If the fuel hoses (primer hose, bulb, and internal vacuum-side of the fuel pump are OK, and if you have the correct fitting on the tank, you may have a bad fuel pump. BTW... The 6G tank is pretty big for that motor, considering that the 5 hp motor probably uses 2 quarts per hour at WOT... that's 12 hours at full throttle. Hard to use up all that gas before it starts spoiling.

Yep, Paul is right, go for a 3 gal portable tank and refill with fresh fuel on next outing..

The fuel pumps on those motors usually start leaking gas before they stop pumping. Its probably something with your tank or line. Do not buy these items from Walmart most of them are bad brand new out of the package.
