I am new to Waverunners. I recently purchased a beautiful 2004 Yahama FX Cruiser HO. We ran it for several weekends with no issues whatsoever. It has 100 hours on it.
It starts fine. It does not run rough in any way that I can detect. It would seem to run fine except that it does not have quite the same pep at take off. It is still plenty fast and will get up to 45 or 50.
However, it smells like it is running rich and will not get up to the higher speed of 62 to 65. We ran it for two weekends with no problem. We got it out this weekend, started it and it ran at the slower speed. I would not mind so much but it is DRINKING gas at a much higher rate. It is not in the Learner Mode but almost sounds like it from behind when it runs by.
I disconnected the battery thinking that we might reset the system in some way. The air filter is new. There is nothing in the impeller. All connections seem well connected. I don't think it is a bad fuel situation.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to learn the machine so that I can make repaire myself.
