I just bought a Bayliner 175 and i didn't have a Stereo setup.

So my set so far
*JBL PRV170
*JBL MA6004 4-Channel Full-Range Marine Amplifier
*6x9" infinity
*6.5" infinity
*Boss wiring kit
*Looking to buy a dry box and usb port next to the receiver

I'm putting the 6x9 in the back near the two rear seats. The amplifier on the passenger side under the storage area.

I'm wondering where is everyone else putting a second set of speakers on their Bayliners or like boats? I was considering putting the set of 6.5 near the grab handles on the bow of the boat. I seen a couple boats with a set of 6.5" speakers right under the walk through Glass. If anyone has any experience with that please let me know how that sounds ?

Also im gonna buy a Second battery for the audio set up so i don't drain my main battery just in case anyone has that response.

Hope to hear some feedback, Thanks

Re: 2004 Bayliner 175 .... Speaker set up

desjt3,

Your plan sounds pretty good to me. On the 6x9s I would recommend check to make sure they will not be in the way when people are sitting in those back seats. You don't want people hitting or kicking them getting in and out of the seats and the boat. On the newer Bayliners they mount them in the same area but further forward right behind the captains seats.

For the front speakers I would mount them in the bow as that's where most manufactures mount them. A friend of mine just installed a set in the bow of his 185 and it turned out pretty good. He had to go with 4" speakers as to not to have to cut or mess with in any of the upholstery. I wouldn't put them between the consoles between the glass as I think people will have a tendency to hit them as they walk through.
