I am considering buying a 2004 Sea Ray 240 Select from a boat dealer. Here is the situation, they told me the engine was recently replaced by Merc due to water damage. While it has 0 hours, I am concerned there are other issues. What other things should I be worried about? Is this a big enough red flag to not buy the boat? How does this affect the overall value of the boat on the market. The boat is for sale for 45k and based on my research it appears to be overpriced by 10k. Thanks in advaced.

need a little more info. what kind of water damage? boat flooded or internal water leak in motor?
what size engine? what out drive?
based on your coments above i'd keep looking. a lot of boats for sale. buyers market. the 10k is about the price for brand new motor, give or take. sound like they want the price of the boat+want you to stand the price of new motor too. if this is the case you can find a boat=to and chances are it runs ok. if you did have to change motor you could use rebuilt and have control of change and most likely get by cheaper. 04 boat shouldnt need replaced from normal use.
