I have a 2003 Yamaha 60 Jet Drive that will not turn over in choke, but cranks and runs for about 10 seconds before dying. Motor will crank every other time, but dies right away. Changed spark plugs, oil filter, and fuel filter recently. Before tune up, everything ran fine. Bulb gets tight and can see fuel enter filter. Lower unit has a rattle when cranking. Motor is fuel injected, and just added sea foam, but cant get motor to stay cranked in order to get sea foam to run through.

Let's get on the same page when it comes to terms used to describe the situation, it makes it much easier to get good answers. Cranking is turning the key and having the starter engage and turn over the motor, cranking ends there, it does not include running. Starting is the next phase.

Lower unit (jet pump) rattle has nothing to do with it.

My first guess would be air in the system. You may need to bleed it out.

You could try spraying a small amount of fuel or starting fluid into the intake to see if it stays running. Only do this this for a couple of seconds to see what happens.

Ondarvr: Thanks for the reply. What i meant was, when in choke, the motor will not turn over, ever. When out of choke, the motor will turnover and run for a few seconds. When it starts, it sounds like it is getting throttle at first, then sounds normal before it dies.
I will try your suggestion this evening and see what happens.

So, you are saying if you engage the electric choke or the manual one the starter will not engage the flywheel and turn the motor over?
