2003 Yamaha 150. will not idle or run at low RPMs give it some gas or choke it and it smooths right out. I took the cover off yesterday and noticed that extra gas leaks out of the carbs. Could it be that it is getting too much gas and if so how do I fix it. I am pretty handy once I know what the problem is so fixing sould not be an issue.

If the carbs have never been cleaned, that is most likely your problem. Most motors will open up the high speed jets when you accelerate, but if the low speed or idle jets are gummed up, you'll need to clean em up.
I believe somewhere on this forum, there is a step by step to this procedure.

you having multiple issues, one is some leaking needles the other is plugged pilot fuel jets.
by tapping the choke your forcing the engine rich bypassing the pilot fuel circuits.
clean the carbs carefully and if the lift pumps have not been replaced in the past 3 years go ahead and replace/rebuild them.
always remember how and why the systems work.
you trouble shot your own issue.
if it was a rich run condition tapping the choke would further enrich the mix causing a shut down and flooding.
not what your describing.
