Any input would be helpful. I cannot figure this out. I am going to try my best to explain in detail the problem...
One morning my girlfriend and I had just launched the boat. I started it up and noticed a funny noise coming from the engine. I assumed it was just the belt and went and parked the truck when i got back I noticed it was still happening so I watched my gauges. The temp went up up up. So load it up and go back home. And I start to look into the problem, I found out that the impeller fins were all broken off and blocking up the thermostat housing. So, I took all the hoses off, replaced the impeller, checked and cleaned the hoses, thermostat housing, and exhaust and removed all the impeller fins.
Next time out, we put it in the water and I let it heat up to make sure the temp would go back down...and it did! I have to go about 500 yards to get out of the no wake zone and so I was in idle that whole way and everything was perfect. But, as when I hit the gas the boat is fine for about 10-20 seconds and then the alarm comes on and the temp shoots up! When the boat is put into neutral the temp drops right back down in a matter of 5 seconds. The impeller and water pump are all belt driven. From what I was told is there is nothing really inside that water pump to go bad as long as the belt is spinning it....
Any ideas?
