2003 Trailblazer Trailer hitch not tight?

I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer that I have been towing my boat with for the last year. It runs great and tows my 16' boat no problem, but it seems the trailer hitch isn't as tight as it should be. When hitting bumps, I can hear the trailer hitch rocking and hitting the square frame.

Does anyone own a Chevy Trailblazer? Anyone have a tight hitch that doesn't rattle? I bought mine from Walmart, but I'm thinking about replacing it with a new one to see if it makes a difference.

That's the ball mount rattling inside the receiver. It's not a hitch problem. If the ball mount fit real tight in the receiver, moisture and scale buildup would soon have the two units stuck together and you'd not be able to remove the ball mount.

If you want to get rid of the rattling, you can have a spot weld placed on the drawbar right where it enters the receiver. You then grind it down so that the drawbar has a tight fit at the receiver opening.

I have a trailblazer we tow a 18.5 Keywest with. Also tows very well. Yea it does have some slack in the ball slide mount. I think its pretty normal just as long as the pin and cotter are in.

LOL...I guess you would have a lot less noise if you didn't have the pin and cotter in!

Pretty silent without them. Keep a check on that rear view mirror !!

But the noise is deafening as the safety chains take up the slack when the ball mount leaves the receiver and you then dynamite the brakes to let the trailer catch up again. 8)

If a person is leaving the pin out, what makes you think they put on the safety chains! :)

Hey, don't forget that the hitch bouncing around is "trailer hitch talk" for "too little tongue weight". Esp. if it occurs over bumps. Better check it...

Where is the volume-level on the stereo system?
