2003 tohatsu 8hp replaced water pump still not cooling

I just bought this little engine runs great, but there is no water coming out of the telltale, replaced water pump impeller still not shooting out water thru tell tale what else can I look at? 8 hp 2 stroke 2003 model

Make sure the hose is not plugged leading to the tell tale. Mud dobbers will plug them, or even spiders. Use a small wire and poke it up thee, it won.t hurt it any.

Is the engine in fact getting cooling water? If you are not sure, and if trying to unplug the telltale hose fails, I'd check that all the pipe connections from the impeller up to the block are in place. My Honda 8 (which may of course differ from the Tohatsu) is kind of tricky - it is not that easy to get the two pipes aligned, and if you miss, the water from the pump stays inside the leg and never makes it up to the block.

that happen to me before.. i didn't have the 'half moon key way ' in good .. it slipped out the way at impeller install.. the little bugger loves not to go right..
