My friend wanted me to look at his 60 hp mercury. It was hard to start and would only start with throttle open a good bit. It would run for awhile and cough I would not say it was a sneeze. Looked into it a little further and bottom two cylinders were not sparking. The yellow wires coming out of the stator were melted together. We swapped bottom and top coil as a test and it made no difference bottom still dead top ok. We also swapped White with green stripe with Green with white stripe to see if we could feed bottom two coils and get some spark. Well after that we have no spark on any cylinder? I was reading someone post about loosing a ground and having no spark but it was not clear where this was on the engine. I'm going to need a service manual for this if anyone has a link.
