Hey y'all, its my first post on this forum... Thank you for the knowledge. Anyway, found a guy selling a boat for a REALLY good price and wanted to get some feedback. Long story short oil wasn't put back in the dual 2003 merc 60s on this thing and they seized up. He says he took it to the dealer and they recommended getting rebuilt powerheads.
I'm pretty good at working on my jeeps engine, but I've never worked on an outboard... is replacing a powerhead something that will require a wealth of experience to relatively easily do? If so, how much would I expect to pay a pro to do it for me? I saw powerbeads run around 17-1800 and I found one for 800, guessing the labor will not be cheap either. Its looking to me though, it might be possible to get both motors up and running for around 3k, which would be a steal for the boat.
Thanks,
