Kept in fresh water for 6ish? years, and its been kept trailered for the last year and used a few times last summer. Don't have maintenance records but I can ask the previous owner questions of when the last time x was changed/replaced.

Got this boat/motor at the beginning of last season and tried starting it up after the winter with fresh fuel in a tank that had been emptied and with rabbit ears on for water flow. It started (a couple times out of a few tries) but stalled after about 5 seconds. After the 5th or so try it stalled and gave me the 4-2 crankshaft position sensor code.

I inspected the spark plugs and found the top and middle plugs looked ok, but the bottom plug was discolored and coated in gas. The right one in the picture below is from the bottom cylinder.

Im planning an order to browns point to get some normal maintenance stuff and to get it running. Heres what I have on the list so far

Service Manual
Fuel/water separator filter to go in with tank
Fuel Filter
H/P Fuel Filter - Do I need to replace this? Its relatively expensive
Oil Filter and wrench
Water Pump - Ive read this should be done every 2 years so im sure its probably due.

Any ideas on why its stalling and not running? Any ideas on why the bottom plug is discolored? Should I order any more parts? Do I need to replace any anodes (theyre not worn down)?

I would get a clear glass jar and drain the vapor tank and check the gas. it may be old gas or you could have water in the fuel.check if signs of bad gas flush with good gas and try running it again if it runs good that ma y have been the problem.bad gas will blow a new motor.learn that the wrong way.

Did a full fuel filter changeout (HP, LP, and water separator), put in new plugs, new oil and filter, and changed out gear oil. Runs great now. Probably had bad gas. Still need to do water pump but that can wait as the water flow is still good. Thanks for the help!
