Is it possible to add water pressure gauge and trim gauge to a 2003 175hp Johnnson-Bom 2 stroke?

If so, what would i need?

Thanks.

Teleflex has a water pressure gauge and the fittings and instructions needed to install it. Check your engine, it may already have the trim sender installed. Again, Teleflex has a number of trim gauge kits. It is a good idea to replace the water pump impeller when you add the water pressure gauge. You then take a ride and note idle, mid range, and wide open throttle water pressure readings. In the future, any deviation from those "new impeller" numbers indicates that its time to replace the impeller. The gauge of course is of little value unless you understand what it's telling you. Zero pressure indicates there is no water reaching the engine -- as may be the case if you sucked a plastic bag over the water intake. And most people do not understand that just because normal water pressure is indicated, that does not mean the engine is being properly cooled. A stuck thermostat or defective poppet valve, blown head gasket, etc are all overheat causes yet the gauge would show normal water pressure. All it tells you is the pump is or is not working.

Thanks. Water pump is actually being replaced this winter (if it hasn't been done so already when they winterized boat).

I will look into the teleflex stuff (if I can figure out models I need). Hoping the sender is there already.
Thanks.

Can anyone tell me what the MAX PSI would be?

I don't want to get a gauge that shows 60psi if the max is only 15psi.

Thanks.

My '98 150HP Johnny came with a trim gauge. Look as you tilt the motor up for a black plastic arm that moves 1/2"-1". That is the sender.

BTW - I do not find the gauge to be too accurate or useful. It is better to set the trim by feel.

Thanks Chris.

I am interested in adding it this year since I am adding Benet trim tabs in spring.

Will be my 1st time with an OB and trim tabs, so I want to make sure I trim engine properly/flat.

That is the only real reason.
