we tow our 11' AB inflatable, the power trim cylinder has cracked off from the bouncing I assume. So we need to find the assembly to make this work again. Any suggestion as this part seems to be obsolete.
Thanks for any help. New it is $1700.00

Re: 2003 25hp Nissan with trim problem

Is your model NS25C3 or NSF25A? What is the S/N? Year is irrelevant; model/serial is everything for servicing. If you don't use a transom saver, and trail down the road with any motor tilted, you can damage either the motor or the transom on the boat

There is a PTT unit that will fit the older style 25 hp 4-strokes, but MSRP pricing new is over $1400.

Thank you for the info. The model is an NSF25A. Is there any way the hydralic (?) trim cylinder can be repaired? The rod is bent and the cylinder leaks, it broke the cylinder at the top. We have straigthened it but???
Where would I be able to purchase the PTT unit? Thank you so much

Any Nissan or Tohatsu dealer has the part(s) available. Your not going to find a way to repair or straighten out the trim rod.

You would need

3AC771511M POWER TRIM & TILT ASSY $1,490.58
3GF624661M TILT STOPPER (PTT TYPE) $59.75

Also get a transom saver strut, to prevent this problem in the future.

These bits are available from any dealer, including me. You get 15-20% off parts. You can email me: paul@obersheimersails.com, or call 716-877-8221 M-F 9-7 Eastern.

Thank you for your reply and the cost of the parts. Is the transom saver strut the same as the lever that is on the power tilt that can be adjusted down to stop movement of the motor on the shaft when in transit?

No. A Transom Saver is a "crutch" that gets fitted between the tilted motor and the bottom of the trailer so that the bouncing loads on the motor aren't transferred to the transom clamps and transom.

The Tilt Stopper is not intended to unload the stresses from the transom and bracket. It takes the load off of the hydraulics (only). Many a boat has been damaged by trailering without a transom saver.

The tilt stoppers on outboards are supposed to be used to secure the engine up when dropping the boat into the water and retrieving the boat from the water. Every manufacturer warns against them being used for trailering.
