Need some advise Have 36' offshore, 2003 yamaha 250 four stroke, port side engine hard to place into gear, starboard works normal. When unhooking shift linkage from engine, shifting feels normal at helm , throttle action normal. Shifting at engine by hand, seems stiff. Removed lower unit, hook cable back on engine, shifting seems normal, so I'm thinking its in lower unit. Shifting lower unit on bench seems fine, still i removed the shift rod inside lower unit, don't see anything abnormal, placed back together, shifts fine on bench, installed lower unit onto engine still the same issue.
What am I missing ?? the Shift rod from engine top to lower unit works good when unit is off engine
