I ran the boat about 5 months ago and ran it out of gas at the ramp because I knew I would not use it for awhile. I have tried to start it recently and it will turn over, but it will not fire. I have new fuel and I know it is getting to the last connection of the hose at the outside of the engine because I can see a small amount of gas coming out when I pump the bulb. I bought a tool and completed a spark test yesterday, so I know it's getting fuel and fire. I have not checked compression; however, I strongly doubt that is a problem. My kill switch is in place and I have played with it enough that I am confident it is not the problem unless it is completely bad for some reason. I have put the engine in gear (forward and reverse), then back to neutral to make sure that is not the culprit. I have examined the exhaust and I do not see any signs of dirt-dobber nests, but I have not tried to stick anything up in the exhaust past the point of what I can see. What next? Do I need to remove the carb to clean it? I was hoping to not have to tear into the engine.

Check to be sure the gas is getting into carb float chamber....pump bulb until hard, then loosen or remove the float chamber drain screw to check for gas....

running a multi carb/cylinder motor out of fuel for storage is a bad idea.
not all of the carbs run out at the same time so you end up runnning some cylinders with out the beifit of fuel and oil while the others are still going,
and not all of the fuel is sucked out of the carb bowls when it finally dies and what is left evaporates that much sooner leaving dried up junk in the bowls.

I find it best to leave the full and run the motor often or drain the float bowls with the drain screws, but then you still have the fuel in the lines and pump that will leave residue.

My thoughts are you need to pull the carbs and clean them and then sync and adjust as the manual calls for when you put them back on. do not forget to flush the lines and pump out well or you will get junk in your cleaned carbs when you start it up.
