I've got a 2002 Tohatsu M40D Was out the other night and the unit stalled. Got home and pulled the plugs and no spark all 3 cyl. I can pull the kill switch from the console and cross the wires and still no spark. Is there a kill on the motor? I don't want to assume its the brain board and it be something simple. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

On a remote model there is no kill switch on the engine. So, armed with your trusty service manual, you will have to test the ignition system parts until you find the one that is causing the problem....Usually not the CD module. Most of the time it's a bad ground.

If you crossed the wires at the stop switch, you stopped. In other words, the brown wire must not be grounded in order for the ignition to operate. Grounding the brown to the black kills the magneto. For troubleshooting the electrical stuff, including ignition, I would highly recommend that you have a Factory service manual (available from any dealer, including me) which has a testing table -- too complex to elaborate here, and you will need an analog (not digital) ohm meter.
