2002 Nissan 6hp lower unit oil change

unfortunately, I have not changed the lower unit oil for 10 yrs.....I tried to remove the screws for the fill-up and can not make them budge.....I am wary of applying too much force for fear of shearing the screws....any tips/ideas on how to loosen these screws...thanks

You need a LARGE screwdriver. It must fit precisely, filling the slot completely, with no play. If necessary, add a wrench to the shank of the driver, and "bump" the tool to pop the screws loose. When replacing the screws, they must be snug. I would recommend new gasket washers, and if you manage to mangle the screw heads in the least, new screws as well.
