2002 Merc Opti 225 4 Beep alarm

[Ranger 2001]

I just bought a 2001 ranger 520 with a 2002 Mercury Optimax 225. The serial # is OT470328. The boat has not ran in over a year. The gas is about 1 year old. I added new gas, about 7 gallons per tank, each tank had about 5 gallons of old gas.

I ran the boat today and after a 15 minute idle warmup, I gassed it to ~ 30mph. I ran fine for about a mile than had a 4 beep alarm. I shut down and turned the engine off. Every time I restart the engine 45 sec later a 4 beep alarm goes off. Then as I idle or run, exactly (stopwatched) 2 minutes later another 4 beep alarm goes off....and so on.....

I never loose rpm's, motor is peeing good, oil pressure gauage reads full.

ANY IDEAS PLEASE????? Computer reset needed? Oil sensor?

The person I bought it from just replaced the starter battery, lower unit oil, air filter, oil filter and new impellor.

Engine has about 100 original hours....

I believe that is telling you there is water in the fuel or low oil level

My oil level in the rservoir under the cawling is full. And also the oil level in the main tank is full.

Do I need to get all the gas out and start over?

Sounds like low oil alarm. These was bad about magnet falling off inside tank. Disconnect the 2 blue wires from eninge oil tank and see if alarm goes away,if so its the tank.

**Update** 1-30-2011....1:20pm PT

I unplugged both blue wires from oil tank reservoir. Turned engine over. Got same 4 beeps every 2 mins.

I took off oil CAP from reservoir turned engine on, let oil in reservoir fill until slightly spilled over, recapped. Tried again with no luck. Same 4 beeps.

Any more ideas?

Not positive.But I need a pic of the oil tank on the motor.Some of the oil tanks,the magnets in the tank stop working and will always do the beep till you replace it.
It's not the sensor but the tank itself.
It's always sending a low alert.Even full.The tank in the boat does it have a sensor too?
You have the manual for this motor? It's important to get the factory manual.The aftermarket are ok,but not as good.
