Out boating last night noticed the temp light was on (no alarm) I reversed to see if weeds were the issue, did not correct the problem. I shut the motor down, tilted up to see if the intake screens were clogged, nope. Tonight after work I intend to see is the discharge has debris or build up. Question should I try dumping some CLR down the discharge? Ot just go with wire probing?

Luckily I do not have a trailer or a lift but I do have an outlet down on the dock and a portable air compressor. Thanks for the tip.

I stopped by the old house and neglected to grab the nozzle for the air compressor. I am also going to grab the hose and try shooting water thru the flush port. Figure easy things I can try before the rebuild kit arrives on Monday.

So I shot water into the flush opening water flowed out of the inlet screens. I shot water in the pee hole and the water came out around the hub of the prop. The motor was fully tilted up. The motor is a 2001 BF50A. Is this normal? I would check the manual but the one sent is written in french.

Luckily the online manual says to fully tilt the motor to pull the lower unit, lucky for me I will be dropping the lower unit while standing in 3' of water.

Not REAL sure, but I would guess you could use the engine's compression to help hold the shaft well enough to break the prop nut loose. That's assuming of course, that you tighten enough for that to be a factor. That's the only reason I can think of....

The online Honda manual was woefully inadequate, called out the wrong bolt size, for got to mention the extra mystery bolt up in there. I will get the mystery bolt out this evening.
