I am experiencing a problem with a 2002 75 HP Honda misfiring in the top two cylinders. If I squeeze the fuel bulb the intermittent miss seems to disappear. Suspect either a fuel pump or fuel filter. I don't think it’s carbs because number 1 and number 2 cylinder seem to be equally impacted. Any help is appreciated.

Try running on a portable tank that you know works. What have you had done to isolate this problem?Valves adjusted?Fuel clean and water free?Is this something new or are we trying to fix an inheirited problem?

Try drainig all the fuel from the float bowls on each carb. Water in the carbs will cause this problem. Change out fuel filters. The engine will miss if the mixture is not correct for each cylinder. The fuel mixture screw can plug up and make the engine miss. You tell if that is the problem by marking where is screw adjustment is then remove each screw and blow a small amout of carb cleaner into each hole. Replace each screw to the original position and start engine. Allow engine to come to normal operating temp. Watch tach and adjust mixture srew for max RPM. Dont mess with idle screw unless you have a way to measure vacumn in each intake prot.<br />Nick
