2002 4.3L mercruiser

Hey guys I have a 2002 searay, with a 4.3L mercruiser the engine won’t turn off when I remove the key, I had to kill it but turning the batteries off and hitting the trim, it starts up and runs great the only thing is it not wanting to turn off, I’ve replaced the key switch thinking that would help and it didn’t… any ideas?

Is your engine carbureted or fuel injection?
Engine serial number handy?
If carbureted, first thoughts may be either Oil pressure switch issue or internal Alternator issue.
Does the lanyard safety switch turn off the engine?

Also, a bit of history on the boat/problem would be helpful. New-2-You? or was it once working properly?

It's a TKS with a bad blocking diode.

'02 will not be a tks unless it has a newer engine. the original '03 engine in my boat had a electric choke mercarb
