2002 216ssi

Hi everyone, I am a soon to be boat owner, but deciding what to buy is difficult. I am looking for a 21-22 foot open bow boat. Can any owners tell me the plusses and minuses of this boat?

Everyone I talk to has different opinions. Also, the swim platform is not factory and will be taken off and replaced if I buy this boat. The boat is clean but has 200 hours.

I am also considering a 2007 Reinell 220LSE, 2003 Crownline 210LS, 2007 Tahoe Q8I, and 2010 Tahoe Q7I.

Thanks again for your input. I just want a reliable boat for my family, so we can go to the lake, walk down to the dock, jump in and go.

Go ahead and give us a rundown on the boat. Also which engine and outdrive does it have? Do you have records? Chaps can have Mercruiser or Volvo and different outdrive options as well. Post some pics or a link to the Chap and the others so we can give you some input. I have a similar Chap but a couple feet smaller. They build them the same regardless of the length with the exception of the lowest budget model. If it was a brand new 216SSi and it was 2002, then you have chosen likely the nicest boat in its class but in 2011 a lot can have gone wrong with a 9 year old boat. As nice as that chap was in 02, Id have a tough time not gravitating toward the newer boats but understand Tahoe and Chaparral aren't in the same hemisphere for reputation, right, wrong or indifferent.
