last weekend, the engine quick working beyond 2000 rpm so I change (cleaned) water separator filter and no chnge. removed and clean VST filter with foam out and just came back from a test run and thankfully every things worked good. Now I am wondering why yamaha is using so many fuel filter for its HPDI.
1. could be one in the fuel tank
2. water separator filter, coarse
3. filter at VST before loe prsuure fuel pump, seems like 10 micron
4. there is a canister at VST out to high pressure pump and I think that is a filter also
5. filter at HP pump
6. filter at injectors

this is crazy.

what is "foam out"?

If you let the injectors instead of the filters catch the stuff then you will loose pistons as you will not notice one or 2 partially plugged injectors or screens and the HPDI's run on the edge of lean already
The filters are maintenance items, so clean and replace like Yamaha recommends and if you are having problems with filters your injectors may need cleaned and flow tested also

sorry it is called seafoam. i understand that injectors need clean fuel but I think two filters one for larger stuff and one for smaller particles should do. How about putting them in an easy place to replace??

I take it you have not found all of the screens and filters, so would be a good idea to have the thing hooked up to a laptop and make sure the fuel pressures are all in spec.

Need to contact the Yamaha engineers to ask them to move them or get a carbed motor

If you keep #1 and #2 filters changed often, then you will have no problems with the rest.

thanks Capt Ken, I followed one of your previous posting and fixed the problem. Do you mean number 2 and 3? because I do not even know that there is a fuel filter outside the motor in the fuel line or in the tank.

Yamaha requires a 10 micron filter to be installed between the tank and the engine. So if there isn't one, someone is falling down on the job. On the pre-delivery checklist, that is suppose to be checked off.
