I have a 2001 40 h.p yamaha with 3 carbeurators. I was wondering the steps involved in adjusting the carbueretors. Each carb has a screw for adjustment. I have messed around with them, but I don't want to use the motor till I know where they are supposed to be and what I should be looking for. Please advise.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: 2001 Yamaha 40 h.p Carbueretor Adjustment

Since it is a new motor and you seem to want to learn how to do the simple things yourself. I would suggest geting a manual like a clymer, etc. Those will guide you in the basics and then you have Iboats forums to ask questions about the things that dont seem clear in the manual. That is what I do.
Dont run the motor if you have been "tinkering" with the carb adjustments until you get a handle on where they need to be set as a baseline. Sorry I cant help, dont know if your yammie is setup like my johnson. I am sure someone can get you going.
here is a link to purchase: yamaha manual
Yours is a 2001 so wait to buy until one of the experts on here can tell you if your 2001 40 is the same as the 2000 model. Most likely it is. Good luck
