I am having trouble with my 225 at high RPM it shuts down like you turned it off. It does great until I attempt to fully accellerate, and before it reaches full speed it will shut down completely. None of the touble alarms ever sound off. All help will be appreciated. Thanks Matt

check your low pressure fuel pumps and the vapor seperator filter, when an EFI runs out of fuel it can be a shut down just like you switched the key, one of the big differences in symptoms between carbed and EFI.

cool
aint it amazing how quick the shut down is when an EFI motor runs out of fuel? its not a slow bog like a carb motor.

Rod, The engine did great the first 2 or 3 times out now I noticed this weekend it acted as if I had it at full throttle at about 4500 RPM and when I backed off & got back down on it it picked on up as it should for a bit and then the same again I am thinking I still have a fuel problem? It doesnt do it until it has been run for a few minutes. Thanks Matt

sounds like your still fighting a fuel issue.
any restrictions can do it as well as trash in the vst filter or clogged injector filters. each injector has a filter in it.
look on the yamaha parts website and see if your filters are availible, if not flagship marine is doing a good job cleaning and replacing the injectors for 30 a piece or so.
but before ya drop to many nickels you need a high pressure fuel gauge and a vacum guage and a bit of knowledge about how and why EFI works.
the O2 sensor test harness will be nice as well as above 4000 RPM it can lean out the air/fuel mix.
but it sounds a lot like the VST filter is clogged.

Rod I pulled out the VST filter today and did find a small amount of dark residue. I was able to remove the filter and clean it however it didnt look like much was there at all. It was barely even visible, but the filter did look gray in color before I cleaned it. I wasnt able to test run today but hope to by the end of the week. Thanks Matt
