Just picked up a 2001 pontoon and they are a little pitted and such have been painted over the years but looks like crap. What i was wondering is i use flex seal a lot in my line of work and thought why not try on pontoons instead of paint has anyone else ever tried this before and do you think it would work...The main reason is it would take me days to get all the old paint off coat after coat and was looking for a way to just seal and paint over. Thanks in advance Brandon

IMO speaking only on adhesion I do not think the flex seal will bond properly to the old paint and would most likely start lifting/separating
really soon.
What if you picked up a cheap sand blaster and bead blast the old paint off.. that would be a fairly quick job.

I would but it is really pitted behind the paint i would be afraid of doing damage..

Flexseal won't work for long below the waterline.

If you have pinholes or leaks in the pontoons, best to get them welded up. Search this site for instructions on how to test your pontoons for leaks (pressurize pontoons and then spray with soapy water. Soap bubbles are leaks)

Often people paint their pontoons with anti-fouling paints. The paint is designed to wear off, taking with it marine growth. You might have anti-fouling paint on there. To test, get the paint wet and see if it rubs off easily.

If you have anti-fouling paint on there you buy a remover or just paint over it with new anti-fouling paint. Lots of colors to choose from these days, incl silver! The remover is a PIA and you may not like what is underneath!

Use the product made for the application. In the long run its less cost and trouble and work.

Goggle por-15 check this product out IV heard of some people using it . It will make it almost impossible to weld to after applying but if you are at your last resort before replacing the toons why not give it a try? Also try aircraft paint stripper to remove what's there
