I was on the lake on the 4th with the family running pretty much all day with no sign of problems until that evening, I started up and backed away from the dock and it shut off like I hit the key. After checking fuel it was o.k. I discovered no spark, Went to local dealers and no help for weeks, so I went online for help and found very little trouble shooting charts for 01 and up Merc's . I disconnected each module and the rectifier (no spark) .
I'm an Auto mech by trade and understand all the principles of the components if I had some spec's on the system or even test procedures.
Any help would be appreciated!
My Kids are patiently waiting so we can continue our vacation

Re: 2001 Tracker 90hp No Spark

Did you inadvertently pull the emergency kill switch lanyard and activate the kill switch? You can also disconnect the large black control harness plug at the engine, jump the starter solenoid (you know how to do that) and see if you have spark. If so, the problem is upstream in the harness, control box, or ignition switch. If you still have no spark, you have an electrical problem at the engine. By the way, if the engine starts, you'll need to disconnect the fuel line to let it run out of fuel so have it on muffs when you do this testing.

Use CDI/Rapair parts to make the repair last not OEM

Re: 2001 Tracker 90hp No Spark

I disconnected the main harness on the engine and still no spark, I know on most CDI ignitions the modules are not wired in a series so if it goes bad you lose that cylinder. But not knowing these that well I disconected each one and re-tested to eliminate that possibility.

I'm now going to try and check output using this chart, I have a Mac DVOM meter that I can check the ohms with ,but not sure if it has the DVA capabilities until I get to the shop.

I ordered a Ignition Sub Assembly from Croley Marine, the red stator is $209 and they have this kit that includes Stator, 3 Modules, Trigger, Rev limiter, Regulator, and Engine harness for $180

I'm not a parts replacer on a daily basis but it made sense to get this kit and have spare parts for future use and for less money.

Waiting on Sat. Fed Ex delivery
