I'm thinking about upgrading my boat to the one mentioned above. Supposedly 250 hrs with good service history.

Any thoughts on this engine re: performance and maintenance costs over a carbed equivalent?

Thanks in advance,

D.

Ayuh,.... Ford has been outa the Marine motor business, for Years...

Parts tend to run considerably Higher for a Ford, than Chevy based power...

Ford has never been in the marine industry, the engine in question is a PCM division of Crusader. Crusader has been in busness for over 55 years.

Ayuh,.... Ford motors used to be used by OMC, 'n Mercruiser, 'n Volvo too...

Mercruiser dropped 'em in the late 70s....
OMC went belly up in the mid-90s....
Volvo dropped 'em in the Mid-90s....

Ford exhaust manifolds, Can be bought, at a 'ell of a price premium, compared to Chevy...
'n many of the parts needed to keep the above motors mentioned Runnin',....
Can't be bought, at Any price....

Crusader/ PCM still sell the parts, Again, at a considerable price premium, over a comparable GM motor...

Roll eyes Your hecho de mexico chebby motor is not the saving grace. Chebby manifold from Merc are not going to be considerably cheaper than a set of manifolds from PCM.
