Any opinions?
I have just purchased my Sportster LE 130 hp rotax the other day on condition it runs well.
I took it out in the water and it overheated a few minutes after starting it. I quickly returned to the dock and shut it off. Total time after the overheat signal was maybe two minutes, and never went above idle. It got pretty hot.... Anyhow take it back and explain the events. They flush the cooling system and check - Next day- I take it back out and it runs like it was brand new. We drove it on and off for 2-4 hours. I noticed while taking a rest that some oil had appeared around one of the spark plugs. It seemed to had only appeared after running at the higher rpm's? For the next couple hours I monitored power settings and speed including top speed and it never skipped a beat, felt strong. Checked the oil spotting around the one spark plug afterwards and it seems to be the same (looked the same as it did a couple hours before.)
All fluids were topped with new and fresh levels before starting any of this. I talked to the dealer before (where the boat was bought and serviced) and they advised me the motor had 59 hours. I also found the last service receipt which stated some seasonal servicing which included two new spark plugs..........
I really like this boat and I was really attracted to the low hours but I am increasingly concerned over what damage this quick over heat had caused. I have written a post dated cheque to the seller at his request because he very confident in its performance.
Anyhow what do you guys think? I also paid 6000 thousand for it, which seems like a fantastic deal compared to the used market..
Thx in advance folks!
