I do not know the service history on this boat as it is new to me. Boat ran for about 12 hours then would not plane (we were on vacation). As it starts to go bow up it reduces RPM's but doesn't die.
Replaced LP pumps, clean VST but it wasn't very dirty. Replaced Racor, cleaned filter inside the cowling, replaced bulb and als tried to run it from a seperate tank with no luck. Plugs are new.
There seemed to be some improvement after the LP's were replaced. I partially cleaned the O2 sensor with carb cleaner. I unscrewed it from the top, did not remove the housing and did not clean out the tube. Nor did I use ring free.
Another possible screw up is I used soft permatex for the VST tank as the gasket swelled up. I have a gasket now.
The boat has been in the shop 3 weeks and they can't promised it will be fixed by next week when we go on vacation. I will have to pick up the boat Thursday or Friday if it is not fixed and try it myself this weekend. The above work I did on vacation without much knowledge of the engine. I know more about it now but am by no means a boat mechanic.
I am thinking a new O2 sensor and gasket, properly installed, tube cleaned out (I have the link to the proper procedure now). Also tear down the VST and check the filter then get the Permtex off and install the gasket in case the permatex fouled the screen.
Obviously shots in the dark but I am desperate at this point. May as well not go on vacation without it and lose $1200 rental already prepaid.
Replies are greatly appreciated.
