I have a 2000 50hp, which is the same block, came with a used boat. Compression was 120 lbs. I removed and cleaned carbs before I ran engine full throttle. Carb floats were off 1/8 inch from factory specs, and did not appear to have been worked on, I think engine came from factory with incorrect settings. With a cleaning of the carbs, the correct settings, new sparks plugs, and a decarb, the engine runs great.
