Hello experts, I just bought a 2001 466 mag used and this is the report I got from seller. Engine RPM's looked great when i first saw it. Before I install it someone mentioned the overspeed warning may be problematic. I cant imagine it could have damaged the engine as the RPM's don't indicate any overrevs...Engine ran fine when test driven from old boat before it was removed. Can anyone from experience try and explain what this may have been from, or indicate, before I waste the time and energy installing it in my hull? Cavitation? Coming out of the hole too fast? Slipping hub? Bad sensor? ETC Thanks all in advance!

I don't know what it means. but the top part of scan says it did happen 1072 times... Is it wrong? Are you confirming based on rest of report it didn't happen? I'm asking for advice what it means, as I don't know, and should I be worried there is damage to internal components because of it that may give out sooner than later because of it? Thanks for taking the time to evaluate... Appreciate all advice!

The overspeed count comes from the in-gear switch on the shift plate

You can be running down the lake and if the in-gear switch tells the PCM the motor is in neutral then the count increases

Thanks! So it seems likely it was a bad switch or out of adjustment switch, not an actual overspeed condition with the engine rpm's? Would you shy away from installing this engine due to the report based on number of times compared to what looks like good RPM data/usage?

The overspeed number would not give me any pause to not use the motor. Motor is fine if everything else is good
