I'm looking around for a new engine to replace my 1981 Johnson 140hp. I'm told that my 1981 was rated at the head instead of the prop and that a new 115hp would give me the same power. I use my boat to fish and to waterski.

I've come across a 2001 Johnson 115hp 2 cycle and 2000 Yamaha 115hp 2 cycle. I don't want oil injection and was told I could disconnect the Johnson system and that the Yamaha model I'm looking at does not have oil injection.

Do any of you have any comments on whether I should go with the Johnson or the Yamaha.

Hey Happy,
Has someone already disconnected the VRO on the Yammy? There's a lot of pros/cons on oil injection systems and you seem to have made up your mind on that score. I think Yamaha makes a GREAT motor & I'd go with that (but for what it's worth, I also think VRO is a great innovation & wouldn't recommend disconnecting it.........I know, I know there's plenty of you out there that disagree......JMHO :p
Backlash
