My pontoon boat is taking on water from the area around the io to hull to motor. Is there a way to fix this without removing the engine?

Do these bolts ever get loose can they be tightened?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Al

Depending on the brand there is usually a bellows looking gasket down there that is the source of the leak. They are changeable but I can't give a level of difficulty, I've never done one. Look in the engine forum for you brand of I/O or maybe the mod will move this if you tell him what brand.

I should have been more complete.

It is a 2001 Mercruiser with an Alpha drive, and a JC 26' pontoon hull 2001.

Thanks,

Check the bellows for the drive and also the bellows for the shift cable.

My friends JC did the same thing. It was the shift cable bellows.
