I am looking to up grade motors from a 1970's Johnson 10 horse. I found what seems to be a good deal on Craigslist on a 15 h.p. 2001 honda 4 stroke motor. They are asking $550 but it doesn't currently run (turns over doesn't fire) because it has been sitting for two years. Sounds like it used to run great last time out. My question is what kind of risk am I running buying a motor that's been sitting for two years? What parts would you guess may need to be replaced to get it running? Any input on the 2001 honda 4 strokes? Does it sound like a good deal? Any inputs appreciated since I am new to boat motors
