Have a situation where the engine is running and 2 stroke oil is pouring out of the exhaust. Motor starts up and runs well. I have asked around for a while to see if anyone has heard of or had this problem. I’ll try to post a video of it and maybe someone can give me an idea what to do.

Is this something that started suddenly?-----Not an issue for you last season ?-----Gearcase pressure tested ?

if engine runs well & oil consumption is normal top side the you are probably just looking at carbon juices.

check GC for leak but it looks like carbon. deposits

engine runs ok yet... possibly when stored. an injector is slowy leaking fuel under remaining fuel pressure down into the exhaust wasking down carbon deposits.

if GC OK you can always drop the LU and look up the mid-section to prove it comes from the top end....

Did you by chance have the lower unit off and knock the exhaust housing loose?

Makes one heck of a mess

The engine sat for awhile but was started and was fine. Then one day I noticed blue oil running down the outside. Took off cover and air box to see and discovered a check valve on the return hose to the oil reservoir had broke. I searched on line and found the very last one and replaced it. I think that’s when this problem may have started.

No but I did change the propeller shaft seals and o ring thinking it was gear fluid leaking at first then realized it was 2 stroke oil unburnt.

It seems to be unburnt 2 stroke oil and it’s coming out from where the exhaust exits the propeller. At first I thought it was the gear lube leaking so I replaced the seals and o ring that’s when I realized it was definitely 2stroke oil. Could it be oil reservoir pump bulb?

That would be quite a job just to look but I’ll keep that in mind because if no one else has a better idea I’ll have no choice.

So let’s just say I did take a look and see that a big mess of oil is coming down from the top, then what?

well if it is or would be coming from the top end in such quatity something is leaking. Should not be to hard to track down if the leak is external , other wise it is internal to the engine :-(
if still a mistery adding/mixing a UV die in the oil tank and simply track it down with a small UV flashlight.

If you detect no " external leaks" ....flushng oil down the lower section then it is an internal problem in the engine for some reason ???... again if not simply carbon juices.

if you do not have a manual this link will give you access to the 2002 155 hp FICHT... should be close enough .

Check valve issue would explain it, did you flush it out with some simple green or other de-greaser? Maybe it's just slow to drain out and sticking to existing carbon.

How does the motor run?

Pages 5-2----->5-9 of the 2002 manual has an extensive write up on the FICHT oiling system which may help .... ex: oil injector feeding the oil distribution can get stuck and cause over oiling.

Presumably if this " oil" out the prop is coming from the oil tank the oil consumption should apparent.

excess injector oil should return to the oil tank ..something to check !

Motor run’s well it’s a little smoky with the excess oil running down through the exhaust . I replaced the check valve. Couldn’t find the original because it being obsolete so I got one from a year newer model. It still over flows through the exhaust. Maybe there’s something with the ECM?

Oil lift pump diaphragm damaged
That was also obsolete for that motor so I bought one from a newer motor and tried it but still had that problem with the oil pouring from the exhaust while running. Could there be something with the ECM?

Interesting. I’m going to look into that. I’ve been told that pre mixing the oil into the gas is not possible for that motor so I’m not about to do that. Also I noticed the port side intakes have 2stroke oil puddled inside but not the starboard.

in normal old.. 2 strokes oiling the innards is done via the fuel-oil mix ratio sucked from the carb ... on EFI engine the oil is pumped to critical zones via multiple hoses and the fuel bypasses the innards and goes directly into the cyl. via injectors pushed by the high pressure pump

so no... you can not premix.

I’m greatly appreciative for your information. I have a manual and studying it now. I’m looking at the system for FFI oiling and starting to understand the way it works. I’ll let you know how it turns out .

if you are talking oil puddling in the gearcase is the result of the recirculation hose not doing the job. oil is normally pushed up the side hose back to the top of the engine by crankcase pressure. the oil is recirculated to lubricate . this concept was used on oldies from the 60s

if this is a problem check hoses valves for obstruction
