2001 F9.9 Parts Motor(?)

I have a 2001 F9.9 MSHZ that was stored for couple years and I freshened it up over the last few months (see my earlier thread on it smoking). It was acting a little strange but running OK, so I figured a good sea trial couldn't hurt...Had some issues while running for an hour or so, and when I got the boat back on the trailer, had chocolate milk dripping out. Oil was full of water.
According to my mechanic, there's a hole eaten thru one of the cooling passages in the head, and water was shooting right onto the valves. He says something like $5-600 just in parts to fix, so I'm thinking 'new motor.'
Anyone have a good idea of what this might be worth as a parts motor? Everything else is in pretty decent shape.
Any guidance would be appreciated, and if anyone has any interest please let me know.
Had one place offer me $150 for it if I bought a new Merc - I gotta believe I can part it out and CL or eBay a few pieces for more than that, no?
Thanks.

Lower unit should bring in more than that, plus the ignition system /electronic parts
It just take more of your time but will make you more money.
If it is just the head have you tried to find on of those used?

Thanks, 99yam.
I just picked it up today. Hole / crack in the head (oh, the irony there) is apparent, and water may have been leaking in for some time, as the one cylinder top is much cleaner than the other one, and there's some very slight scoring of the cylinder wall too. Not bad I don't think, but that may have been the source of my recent smoking issue. Otherwise everything's in very good shape.
No I haven't searched for a used head, I think I'm done being frustrated with this motor. A very expensive decision I know, but seems like a good idea at the moment. If anyone knows of a used head out there, I may be interested though.
