I have a 2001 Evinrude 150 FICHT, E150FPLSIG, that has a fuel leak in the supply fuel line coming from the fuel pump to the fuel manifold that feeds the fuel injectors. This fuel line looks like it was cut in half and had what looks like a shraeder valve that was teed into the line. I'm getting a lot of fuel coming out of this valve when the fuel pump is energized. I've looked over the parts diagram for the fuel system on the Evinrude parts web site and I can't find anything in this fuel line that shows this shraeder valve. I bought the boat 3 yrs ago and and think this is something that was installed previously. Can anyone think of why this valve would be in the line? I at first thought it was something to pressurize the system or maybe some sort of test port? I plan on removing this valve and connecting the 2 sections of fuel line back together.

Also does anyone know how to disconnect the fuel line from the pump? Is there a special tool needed?

That is the factory installed test port to check your fuel pressure and you should not remove it. You will need to got to a dealer and have them look your engine up on dealer port as the X,Y,S and G series are different and dont usually show on Shoprude website...

Mhern I had same problem this June, and temporarily fixed it my self, although I am not having and issue with fix. Go to Napa auto parts and get a tube of seal all about $6. a small coil of safe-t wire and an o-ring. also get a small washer to go over the brass valve, and rest on the shoulder past the threads. Tilt motor fully, when no more fuel escapes from around the valve (note: the tee is not or should not be cracked, it is just that the heat from the motor has expanded the plastic tee over time that was cast around the valve.) put a rag under tee, and gently with needle nose pliers twist and pull valve out. Now put a piece of paper towel and then q-tips in the hole and let it wick out the fuel until there is not much more coming out. Then dab out as far as you can go down, because the fuel will well up form the bottom Now clean tee area where nerls are put new o-ring on valve and then the original, about half way down up to the o-rings put the seal all around valve. You don't need much! Just enough to coat it. When you are done make sure plastic hole is still dry and insert valve with the washer on the shoulder outside . NOTE: DO NOT GET ANY SEAL ALL INSIDE THE HOLE BEFORE THE VALVE BECAUSE IT WILL MESS UP YOUR PUMP. I had to use water pump pliers to gently seat it. When your done with that take the safety wire and cut about 6" and make a loop around stem and then over edge of washer then around tee and tighten up a little, then do the same thing on the other side of tee, slop some more seal all around the under side of the washer, and let it sit for at least 24 hrs, 2 days is better. It should be nice and warm when you do this. Note I just got my new fuel lines as I am writing this, $330.00 and waiting for 7 weeks from INMARINE on line they were the cheapest. Note also that this line is your return line not your high pressure side. If you order a new line don't forget to order the o-rings with it. I also got the service manual with it so I can check the rest of the motor. I am not going to change out until after the season is over When I got the material to do this it took about 45 minutes from start to finish

This is a KNOWN HAZARD with this design fuel rail although BRP takes no responsibility for it in the form of any sort of recall. It has resulted in some motor explosions and injuries. I can't believe the CG has not forced BRP to do a recall on this design. BRP claims it's due to the ethanol shrinking the rubber seals.
They have come out with a new design fuel rail without the valve but are charging $240 for the part plus installation plus it's usually backlogged.
I had this problem with my motor while cruising noticed "copious" amounts of fuel leaking behind my motor. Stopped and found this valve popped out. Luckily I caught it before it exploded.
My fix was to get a stainless hose clamp and attach it around the valve so there's no way the valve can pop out. So far it's been trouble free for 3 years with this fix.

The reason BRP does not do a recall is because They made it quite clear to the CG and the Gov that they would not take responsibility, accountability or LIABILITY for the design problems in the Ficht series motors. This motor is what finally put OMC under. This I can quite understand. This was part of the deal when they bought OMC out of bankruptcy. They knew the motors where plagued with problems. What they did was look at the design and made changes to make it a reliable motor -The E-TECH

BRP honored all factory standard warranties on the 2000 and the 2001 FICHT engines and the Johnson outboards of the same years, even though they were under no legal obligation to do so. They even would reimburse owners who had paid for warratny type service when OMC was closed down if the servicing dealer went to bat for them.

When the factory warranties expired, there was no more coverage except for the government mandated safety recall that applied to the 2000 model 90? V6's
