Does anyone know what the resistance values of the 4 wires are supposed to be?
My pump isn't working, and when I used an ohmeter, I'm getting values ranging from 500 to 1200 ohms.

Is not working as in not pumping fuel or an electrical issue?

The pump is mechanical...driven motor compression.

The electrical bits on the pump are for the " no oil " warning system.-----The pump has an air motor driven by crankcase compression.----What is your motor doing / not doing ?

"The pump has an air motor driven by crankcase compression" I have to be getting compression, or I wouldn't be able to start it. Although, I'll check the next time it's not raining to see if one of the cylinders is bad.

????----The pump is driven by CRANKCASE compression and not cylinder compression !!----Your motor has 2 separate crankcases.-----Do some proper trouble shooting .----Do not make assumption on how your motor works !-----Your motor can run on one cylinder and sound normal to an untrained ear.

Obviously, I wasn't aware of the difference. I am used to working on 4 stroke engines, not a 2 stroke motor. I THOUGHT this forum was a place where I could learn, without prejudice or humiliation - or am I wrong? The fact I was unaware that the VRO is vacuum activated might have been a clue. I'm quite adept at keeping my cars running for 200,000+ miles, but am in a 'sink-or-swim situation with my 50hp Johnson.

Also, the reason I'm on this forum is to TRY to do some proper troubleshooting. I'm just lost on where to start.

guys, this thread is on the edge of being closed. lets keep it civil.

first thing on any new to you boat/motor/car/bike/plane/etc. is buy a factory service manual. Then read it, then if there are still questions, ask.

to verify the pump is functional, just take the fuel out hose off the top and turn the motor over. it should spew fuel out. if its piddly or nothing is happening, time to rebuild or take it out entirely, 1/8npt grub screw in crank case for vacuum line, and screw a new non-oms pump into the side of the block. done. nothing to do with electronics here.
